Setting Up and Troubleshooting Shopify Drop-Shipping

Press Hook's Shopify drop-shipping integration allows media professionals to request product samples directly through your Shopify store, automating the fulfillment process so you don't have to manually ship every sample. This article covers how to set up the integration and troubleshoot common issues.

How to Set Up Shopify Drop-Shipping

Prerequisites

Before getting started, make sure you have:

  • An active Press Hook brand account with a Pro or higher subscription

  • A Shopify store with products published and active

  • The Press Hook app installed on your Shopify store

Step 1: Connect Your Shopify Store

If you haven't already connected your Shopify store to Press Hook:

  1. Log in to your Press Hook brand editor.

  2. Navigate to the Products page.

  3. Click Connect Shopify and enter your Shopify Shop ID (the "your-store-name" portion of your-store-name.myshopify.com).

  4. Authorize the Press Hook app when prompted in Shopify.

If your store is already connected, you may need to disconnect and reconnect it to enable the drop-shipping feature. Don't worry β€” this will not affect your currently synced products.

Step 2: Enable Drop-Shipping

Once your Shopify store is connected:

  1. Go to the Products page in your brand editor.

  2. Look for the Drop-Shipping section or toggle. If you do not see it, contact support β€” the feature may need to be enabled for your account.

  3. Enable automated drop-shipping for the products you want to make available for media sample requests.

How It Works

When a media professional requests a sample of one of your drop-shipping-enabled products, Press Hook automatically creates an order in your Shopify store. You fulfill the order through your normal Shopify workflow β€” no extra steps required on the Press Hook side. You retain full control over which products are available for sample requests and can disable drop-shipping at any time.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

I Can't Connect to Drop-Shipping

If you're unable to connect to the drop-shipping feature:

  • Disconnect and reconnect your Shopify account. Go to the Products page in your brand editor, disconnect Shopify, then reconnect it. This refreshes the integration and often resolves connection issues.

  • Make sure the Press Hook app is installed in Shopify. Go to your Shopify admin, navigate to Apps, and confirm that Press Hook appears in your installed apps list. If not, reinstall it from the Shopify App Store.

  • Verify your Shopify Shop ID. Double-check that the Shop ID entered in Press Hook matches your actual Shopify store URL.

Orders Are Not Being Created in Shopify

If media professionals are requesting samples but no orders are appearing in your Shopify store:

  • Confirm drop-shipping is enabled for the specific products being requested.

  • Check that the products are published and active in your Shopify store. Draft or archived products cannot be fulfilled.

  • Wait a few minutes. There can be a short delay between the sample request and the order appearing in Shopify.

Products Not Showing for Drop-Shipping

If your Shopify products are imported into Press Hook but not appearing as available for drop-shipping:

  • Make sure the products have been synced recently. Try disconnecting and reconnecting your Shopify integration.

  • Verify that the products are active and available on your Shopify online sales channel.

  • If you have a large catalog, the sync may take 15-30 minutes after reconnecting.
