As a verified media professional on Press Hook, you can request product samples from brands you are interested in featuring. Sample requests let brands know you want to try their product before writing about it.

How to Submit a Sample Request

  1. Find the brand you are interested in by searching or browsing on Press Hook.

  2. Open the brand's profile and navigate to their product listing.

  3. Select the product you want to sample and click "Request Sample."

  4. Add a brief note explaining what you are working on and why you are interested in the product. Include details like the publication name, the story topic, and your expected timeline.

  5. Submit the request.

The brand will receive a notification and can choose to approve or decline your request.

What Happens After You Submit

If approved: The brand will ship the product sample directly to you using the shipping information on your Press Hook account. Make sure your mailing address is up to date in your account settings.

If declined: The brand may not have the product available, or the opportunity may not be the right fit. This is not personal β€” brands receive many requests and cannot fulfill all of them.

If you don't hear back: If a brand has not responded to your request within a week, you can follow up with a message through Press Hook. Keep it brief and friendly.

Tips for Getting Your Sample Request Approved

Include context about your story. Brands are much more likely to approve requests when they understand what you are working on and how their product fits in. Mention the publication, the story angle, and the expected publish date.

Be specific about which product you want. If the brand has many products, tell them exactly which one is relevant to your story. This shows you have done your research.

Keep your profile up to date. Brands review your media profile before approving requests. Make sure your profile includes your outlet, recent published work, and contact information.

Shipping and Timing

Brands handle shipping directly. Delivery times depend on the brand's location and shipping method. If you are working on a tight deadline, mention this in your sample request so the brand can prioritize accordingly.

Note: Press Hook does not handle product shipping. If you have a question about a specific shipment, contact the brand directly through Press Hook's messaging feature.
